No Room at the Inn

When Mary and Joseph arrived at Bethlehem they found it crowded with those who were also required to be there to be taxed.

Mary was very tired and they looked for a place to stay. All the inns were full and they were told that there was no room for them. However, one kind innkeeper, who saw that Mary was expecting her child, said that they could rest for the night in his stable where he kept his animals.

Jesus is Born

While they were there, Mary gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, strips of cloth to keep him warm, and laid him in a manger full of hay.

An Angel Appeared to the Shepherds

An angel of the Lord appeared to shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. they were on a hillside overlooking bethlehem when a bright light shone around them.

They were frightened. The angel told them not to be afraid because the angel was bringing good news of a great joy for all the people. A child is born who is a Saviour of the World and Christ the Lord. The angel told the shepherds that they would find the baby lying in a manger.

The shepherds hurried to see the baby. When they arrived they were filled with great joy at seeing baby Jesus lying in the manger. They knelt down and worshipped him and told Mary and Joseph what the angels had said.
